The oxygen sensor is mounted on the exhaust pipe, and it measures the oxygen concentration in the emissions and transmits the results to the ECU. The ECU adjusts the fuel injection amount based on the oxygen sensor's output voltage in order to control the air-fuel ratio. By controlling the air-fuel ration, the purification efficiency of the emissions purification system is optimized and the emission of harmful components (HC, CO, NOx) is minimized.
Currently, Hyundai KEFICO produces two types of oxygen sensors: the binary type and the linear type.
