The continuous variable valve duration (CVVD) actuator adjusts the valve duration by continuously managing the control shaft of the CVVD system according to the engine’s condition and requirements to satisfy fuel economy and emissions regulations. This first-ever developed CVVD technology by Hyundai-Kia can control the opening of the intake valve to the ideal time according to acceleration, fuel economy, and other driving conditions, which can improve performance by 4% and fuel economy by 5%.
