The power control unit for electric vehicles is an integrated control unit composed of a motor control unit, LDC, and VCU, and it controls and manages the overall operation of the vehicle including the driving condition of the vehicle.
1) Motor control unit
- Torque control for the vehicle’s drive motor
2) LDC : Low voltage DC-DC converter (low-voltage DC converter)
- Converts the high voltage battery’s high voltage to low voltage (DC 360V → DC 12V) to supply power to electrical components
3) VCU: Vehicle control unit (electric vehicle control unit)
- Control tower that oversees the operation of the electric vehicle
