The vehicle platform controller (VPC) has integrated functions of the electric vehicle controller and the chassis domain controller. The VPC is the top-level controller that comprehensively controls the electric vehicle's platforms for driving, charging, and chassis functions of the electric vehicle. The driving and charging functions of the VPC receive available torque from the motor, available power from the battery, and battery state-of-charge (SOC) data, giving the driver a real-time view of the vehicle's status. The driver's requirements are converted into action values and signals, and then delivered to each system. In addition to controlling motor and battery operation, the VPC optimally manages overall vehicle staus by receiving, calculating, and transmitting the operation information to and from sensors and actuators for regenerative braking and controlling the air conditioning loads. The VPC also uses an algorithm to determine the dynamic state of the vehicle, so that the vehicle can operate optimally through switching between 2WD and 4WD and power distribution using the *DAS motor.
