Meet the total solution for electric two-wheeled vehicles
that will become a new alternative in the clean mobility market.
Did you know that two-wheeled vehicles emit more exhaust than four-wheeled vehicles?
The expansion of the clean mobility market is not just about four-wheeled cars. In the trend towards electric vehicles, the power sources of two-wheeled motorcycles are changing from the engine to the battery, and we expect the speed of this change to increase rapidly. Currently, the majority of demand for electric motorcycles are for those in the lightweight class of less than 3kW, but we expect the demand to increase into the 7kW class.
Hyundai KEFICO provides an electric two-wheeled vehicle drive system that guarantees excellent quality and reliability based on our knowledge and experience with the core powertrain control systems. These motorcycles have the same speed, output, and mileage as the existing two-wheeled vehicles. They also provide users with a safer and more convenient driving lifestyle with a total solution for two-wheeled vehicles such as a mobility data service and a battery swapping system(station).
Electric two-wheel vehicle drive system
With the increase of delivery services and leisure riding, Hyundai KEFICO predicts that the demand for electric motorcycles will replace the demand for 125cc engines, and has already begun developing the 7kW electric two-wheel vehicle drive system. Hyundai KEFICO's electric two-wheel vehicle drive system is constructed with two 48V battery packs connected in a series, which guarantees the rider's safety when replacing battery packs and improves both the performance and efficiency with high voltage operation. Also, in order to maintain high output in situations like high speeds or up-hill climbs, the water-cooled module guarantees superior performance than the competitors.
We also plan to build a lineup of diverse ultra-compact mobility drive systems such as electric three-wheeled vehicles and mini EV vehicles. Battery packs are supplied in a consortium with the global battery powerhouse, LG Energy Solution, and through this, we promise to provide excellent battery functions and a stable supply of products.
The motor control unit (MCU) receives a motor operation command from the CAN signal in the vehicle control unit (VCU) to optimally control the drive motor through the internal inverter.
The vehicle control unit (VCU) is the top-level control unit that communicates with other control units, such as the cluster, BMS, and MCU. It transmits the vehicle's core commands such as vehicle control, determinations of the drive status, and torque control. It uses communication modules (modem, Bluetooth, GPS, etc.) to provide the user with the car's status and location data. The DC-DC converter is an isolated power converter that converts high voltage battery power to 14V.
It connects the drive motor and the motor control unit (MCU) with a flow path that circulates coolant to dissipate the generated heat. By controlling the heat inside the MCU and drive motor below a certain level, it helps the vehicle maintain high output for a long time.
