SCU (Shift-By-Wire Control Unit)

  • SCU (Shift-By-Wire Control Unit)

Shift-by-wire (SBW) technology controls gear shifting via electronic signals rather than conventional mechanical connections.
SBW control unit recognizes gear shift commands (P/R/N/D) entered by the driver using buttons or dials.
Then, it generates and transmits appropriate electrical signals to the transmission. Driving information, such as vehicle speed and accelerator pedal position, is analyzed during this process to determine the optimal gear shift timing. A precise control algorithm is then applied to improve safety and emotive driving.
SBW technology is a key element of autonomous and remote control driving technology. Hyundai KEFICO continues to conduct research and development based on its SBW technology, which has been verified in various vehicle platforms, to provide solutions optimized for future mobility services.
