The transmission, along with the engine, are key elements of the car's powertrain. The TCU controls the optimal gear and shift timing of the transmission based on the vehicle's driving data and the driver's intentions, and improves the vehicle's fuel efficiency, performance, and drivability.

Starting with the front-wheel drive 4-speed AT control unit, Hyundai KEFICO has developed and is mass producing front-wheel drive 6-speed and 8-speed AT, rear-wheel drive 8-speed AT, CVT, and IMT control units.
With the expansion of electric vehicles, Hyundai KEFICO has secured front-wheel drive 6-speed control technology for hybrid vehicles (HEVs). In 2019, we began developing advanced and HEV-related technology for mass production. The HEV system's transmission control system helps improve the vehicle's drivability and fuel economy by optimizing driving force delivered from the engine and motor and optimizing the cooperative control logic for regenerative braking. We are developing and mass producing intelligent control logic such as predictive shifting for road conditions ahead and AI motor control at the same time.

Hyundai KEFICO provides transmission control system solutions with technical standards such as legal certifications (OBD1/2) and functional safety (ISO 26262) and A-SPICE certifications, and HS-CAN and CANFD communications systems.
